Changing Answers

Changing the question answer will change the answer options for the specified question.

Answer options are always in two parts and written as an expression, the first part is the ‘answer-option id’ and the second part is the ‘answer choice text’ e.g. answer1=Every day in this example the ‘answer-option id’ is ‘answer1’ and the ‘answer choice text’ which is displayed in the assessment is ‘Every day’.

To change the question answer you will need to open:

  1. Answers.csv

  2. Questions.csv

Open both files in a spreadsheet software e.g. Microsoft Excel or Numbers(Apple).

Question which uses an ‘answer id’

In the questions.csv file (the questions are ordered as they appear in the assessment) look for the question you want to change the answer options. Once found, take note of the ‘answer id’ for the question. In the answers.csv file, find the record containing the matching ‘answer id’. The answer options are displayed in the value fields which are adjacent to the ‘answer id’. The question answer can be edited by changing the ‘answer choice text’ of the ‘answer-option id’.

In the example pictured the answer options have been changed from: ‘Every day’, ‘ Once a week’ and ‘Once a month’ to ‘Weekly’,’ Monthly’ and ‘Yearly’

Question which uses ‘values’ only

In the questions.csv file (the questions are ordered as they appear in the assessment) look for the question you want to change the answer options. The answer options are displayed in the value fields which are adjacent to the ‘answer id’. In this case the  ‘answer id’ will be left blank. The question answer can be edited by changing the ‘answer choice text’ of the ‘answer-option id’.

In the example pictured below the answer options have been changed from: ‘Every day’, ‘ Once a week’ and ‘Once a month’ to ‘Weekly’,’Monthly’ and ‘Yearly’

Save the file as a Comma-separated values (.csv) file. Depending on the software you may need to export it as a .csv file. You may now zip the file and re-upload (or upload the whole folder).
